Group Chief Data Officer

JOB PURPOSE |
The Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) is responsible for defining, leading, and executing the enterprise-wide data and AI strategy across the Group. This role ensures that data, analytics, and AI become core strategic assets driving business growth, operational excellence, risk management, and innovation.
As a C-level executive, the Group CDO plays a critical role in large-scale data and AI transformation within a banking group environment, bridging business strategy, technology, and data while leading sizable, high-impact Data & AI organizations.
1. Group Data Strategy & Governance

Define and execute the Group Data Strategy aligned with the Group’s long-term business objectives.

Establish and oversee a comprehensive Data Governance framework, including data ownership, data quality, data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Design and standardize Group/Ecosystem Data Models to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability across the organization.
2. Data Platforms & Business Intelligence

Lead the development and operation of enterprise-scale data platforms supporting the Group’s data and analytics needs.

Oversee Business Intelligence and analytics capabilities, ensuring timely, accurate, and actionable insights for senior management and business units.

Promote a data-driven culture and embed data-based decision-making across the organization.
3. AI, Advanced Analytics & Innovation

Lead and grow the AI Lab / AI Factory, driving the application of AI and advanced analytics across key use cases, including:

Operational optimization

Risk management and fraud detection

Ensure AI and data initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes.

Monitor emerging trends in data, AI, and GenAI, proposing innovation initiatives aligned with the Group’s strategic priorities.
4. Leadership & Organization Management

Lead, manage, and develop large-scale Data & AI organizations (200+ professionals), including senior leaders, domain experts, and delivery teams.

Define organizational models, capability frameworks, talent development, and succession planning for critical roles.

Collaborate closely with Business, IT, Risk, Compliance, and other Group functions to ensure alignment and execution excellence.
5. International Collaboration & Ecosystem Engagement

Work with international partners, vendors, and stakeholders on data and AI initiatives.

Ensure alignment between global best practices and Vietnamese market requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS |

University degree with majors: Business Administration, Technology, Finance – Banking, Economics or related fields, Master Degree in Business or Finance is preferred.

At least 15 years of experience in the Data and Data Science domain, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role such as Chief Data Officer or Chief Data Scientist.

Extensive banking experience covering the full data scope: Data Platform, Business Intelligence, Group/Ecosystem Data Models, Data Governance, Data Strategy & Innovation, and AI Lab/Factory.

Proven track record in leading strategic data transformation initiatives and achieving measurable business impact through effective applications of AI and Data.

Experience working in organizations of similar scale (banking groups or corporations with over 10,000 employees).

Exposure to both international and Vietnamese markets.

Fluent English (professional working proficiency).

Experience in managing large teams of 200+ members.
